Mastopexy Cost

Cost Breakdown of Mastopexy

Mastopexy, often referred to as a breast lift, is cosmetic surgery completed on female patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts and are looking to obtain a more youthful appearance. The procedure reshapes the skin envelope of the breasts to eliminate sagging that occurs over time. This outpatient procedure can be expensive and as with most cosmetic surgery, it is not covered by health or insurance plans. The patient must cover the entire mastopexy cost with their own money but many women feel it is well worth the financial cost as they are able to get the body shape they desire.

There are a number of factors that contribute to the mastopexy cost. The cost of the cosmetic surgeon’s time generally makes up a great deal of the price as you are paying for their time, experience, and professional training. While many surgeons will have their own clinic in which they complete breast enhancement procedures some also use hospital operating rooms, which might increase the cost of the procedure.

Due to the nature of the operation, general anaesthetics are used for this outpatient procedure. A contributing factor to the mastopexy cost will be the fee to hire an anaesthesiologist for the date of your operation. Medications, lab fees, x-rays and the cost of prescription drugs for your recovery are also items to consider when exploring this form of breast enhancement.

While the mastopexy cost is outlined during your initial consultation there are other costs involved that you will also need to consider before deciding to go ahead with the breast lift surgery. You will need to take some time off work during your recovery period and most surgeons will recommend you take at least a week off before returning to the workplace. Each person’s recovery period is different so extra time may be required. Other costs may include hiring someone to assist you with household duties during your recovery period if your family member’s are not able to help out.

Many cosmetic surgeons have programs in place to help with patients with the mastopexy cost in order to secure their business. They may have a finance program in place where you can pay a portion before the surgery takes place with monthly payments commencing after the procedure is completed until the entire cost is paid. During your initial consultation you can ask your surgeon about any assistance they may be able to provide to help defer the cost of your breast enhancement surgery over several months.

There is also a great deal of competition so be sure to explore the mastopexy cost from several surgeons or clinics operating in your area. The most experienced surgeons will probably command higher rates than relatively new clinics but you will be paying for experience. Don’t make the assumption that simply because one clinic does the most advertising that they are the best or most qualified for the job. Consult with the surgeons in your area to make sure you are comfortable with not only the price you are quoted but also the surgeon who will be completing the procedure.
